The Performing Arts

A few years ago, Google was creating this beautiful website where the viewer had the chance to watch the world’s greatest performances from the stage in full 360. When I was introduced to the project most of the content that was going to be used was already shot and edited. However, there were a few important parts that were missing (probably decided in a later stage) so they needed to create these intros before entering the stage on all of the venues.

My work was divided in to two different parts. One part was to create some movements and animations from 10 different still images. This was done by a lot of painting and dividing up the images into separate layers to be able to move them around and get a fake sense of depth. The other part was to 3D track a lot of edited footage to add all the titles, for example who was the performer, diligent or composer.

I learned a lot while working so closely with this talented team. The project later ended up winning a bunch of awards with a honourable mention from Adobe and a Bronze Cannes Lion in the category “Digital Craft: Video/Moving Image”.
